The first run of the Bear vs Man, Boyd Seth’s signature return top, was actually the very first time we did a production release of a splash anodized throw. This was in 2007 when everyone else was doing solids. I actually thought for a little while that we were the first ones to do splash, but I was corrected that Tom Kuhn was. He kinda disappeared when I came around and I was a bit of a noob so I really had no idea.
Anyways … so from 2007 to 2009 we were the only company doing splash and/or acidwash, and by the summer of 2009 everyone and their dog was doing splash. The Bear vs Man was a pioneer, and a trend setter. It proved to everyone that we weren’t just some fly by night company that got lucky on their first release.
The BvM to this day is the 2nd best selling return top we have ever released, next to the Chief. To honor this throw as well as Boyd Seth, our very first team member, I wanted to modernize it and create a new BvM that had a lot of the key original features that the first one had:
– Long spins
– Stable
– Fancy beveled edges
– Legendary
… I believe that we succeeded with this. On the first debut of the Bear vs Man Round 2, Zach Gormley put it to the test and won PNWR with it. It’s just that good!
